Alexey Gorbatov – Russian senior championship bronze prize winner
The tournament ended on October 29 in “Sochi Park Hotel” recreation zone (“Sirius federal territory”)

The last round was marked by a draw between the Moscow Region International master and the tournament leader Grandmaster Alexander Raetsky (the Samara Region). The latter thus claimed the first place. Scoring 7 points out of 9 Raetsky became the national champion while eight other players scored 6 out of 9. Additional coefficient allowed Vladimir Ponfilenok (the Republic of Tatarstan) to win the silver medal while our Alexey Gorbatov won the bronze medal. Another representative of the Moscow region FM Igor Velikanov scored 4.5 points out of 9.
The women’s tournament was no surprise to anybody. Liudmila Gubernatorova (the Krasnodar Territory) won the gold medal one round before the end of the tournament scoring 8 points out of 9. The silver medal was won by Grandmaster Galina Sturutinskaya (Moscow) with 6.6 points out of 9. WFM Nina Sirotkina from Saint-Petersburg finished 3-rd with 6 points.
We congratulate our senior player with this achievement. The senior tournaments are not yet over. There are rapid and blitz events to come ahead.
