A simultaneous online game took place on June 20 under the auspices of the Moscow Region Chess Federation, the Russian Embassy in Thailand and the Thailand Chess Association.
The Russian senator, multiple World chess champion and the President of the Moscow Region Chess Federation Sergey Karjakin had to face 13 strongest junior players from Thailand including:
Banyawat Tuntrairat

The best resistance was shown by Krit Saisud. He had an attacking position for quite a long time however the World champion managed to strike back and won the game.
Krit was satisfied to play and said: “My fellow friends and me want to play in another simultaneous game against Sergey Karjakin again and show him that we can play better. Personally, I want to play against the well-known champion again and again, to work more on my chess and make new achievements! We are eager to see Sergey Karjakin in Thailand to play against him in an over the board game”.
The President of the Thailand Chess Association Sahapol Nakvanich appraised the event: “This dynamic time control, tough fight on all the boards is an impressive thing indeed. I was watching the game with the parents and such a spicy encounter is a rare thing to see. This was a real chess blast!”
JCA Chess School President Jirapak Pitirotjirathon had a similar view on the matter: “We were witnessing a real chess festival today, I could hardly follow all the 13 games, the situation was changing dramatically. This was cooler than football!”
Sergey Karjakin mentioned a rich artistic part of the event: “As for young juniors from Thailand – it is a good chance to look on their game in another way, to give a fresh glance on their strong and weak points, a wonderful chance to make a leap in their chess education. I was very glad to see young but ambitious players ready to fight and their will to play in daring and open chess. Such simultaneous games is a good tool to develop bilateral chess collaboration between our countries”.
It is worth mentioning that the game could not only be watched online but had commentaries in three languages.
