The Moscow Region women’s team has made nothing but a miracle comeback. The tournament had a very negative start for our team: having won the first round we were defeated by “Ladia” from Kazan and then had to face the tournament winners from “Sima-Land” to whom we lost. But two defeats at the start of the tournament could not let the ladies down and they won a few matches. However in round 7 we were unfairly defeated by Team Saint-Petersburg. In order to fight for the medals our team required to win two rounds in a row. Round 8 was marked by a match against a very tough team from Moscow, however Baira Kovanova, Margarita Lysenko, Irina Sudakova, Ekaterina Smirnova and Iren Lutzinger showed an outstanding will to win the match and won the match. And in round nine they managed to totally outplay “Kimmeriya” from the Crimea and received the bronze medals. This result could have never happened without the efforts by the team coaches Alexey Kornev and Vadim Vdovin, team captain Igor Kovpak and MRCF Albert Minnullin whose faith and optimism helped to keep a positive mood even after hard defeats.

The women’s junior team repeated the success of their elder fellows and managed to win six times with three losses. The team was represented by Maria Malakhova, Maria Rybakova, Sofia Gaer, Alexandra Morozova and Victoria Gorskaya. We would like to thank the team’s coach Yana Chapurina.

The men’s junior team of the Moscow Region finished 4-th as well as “Yaroslav Prizant’s Chess School” in the Top League who finished 5-th. As for the Premier League our men’s team who had a bad start, managed to win the last two rounds and finished 6-th. The Top League also included two teams from the gymnasium named after E.M. Primakov and “Podmoskovnye Vechera” team.
