First ever friendly online chess match between the chess club of the Russian foreign ministry and Togo national chess team will take place on June, 7 at 1 P.M. Moscow time

The event is organized by the chess federation of the Moscow Region and is dedicated to the 65-th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Togo and Russia.
The winners will be awarded with chess boards signed by many-times world chess champion international grandmaster Sergey Karjakin. Top-class players will get an opportunity to play against the champion in a simultaneous exhibition.
The match will be followed by a multilingual audience online thanks to different commentators in various foreign languages.

Players were welcomed by: Senator Sergey Karjakin, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Benin and Togo I.D. Evdokimov, the chairwoman of the Council of young diplomats E.M. Akopyan and the officials of the Togo chess federation.
Sergey Karjakin: “I warmly welcome the first match between the team of the Russian ministry of foreign affairs and Togo national team. On my behalf I am ready to support chess development in Africa. I will be glad to hold a simultaneous for the best match players. They will also get chess boards signed by me”.
Igor Evdokimov: “The chess tournament is organized to commemorate the 65-th anniversary of diplomatic relationship between Russia and Togo which we celebrate in 2025. The match will strengthen cultural, humanitarian and sports relationships between Togo and Russia in recent years”.
