GOSleague: first time and first class

The large-scale online tournament series among public employees finished with an over the board final

The tournament was held under the auspices of the Association of youth councils of governmental bodies, “Sports club of professional unions”, the Russian State Social University as well as the Moscow Chess Federation and the Moscow Region Chess Federation. Igor Kravchenkov acted as the chief organizer representing the Russian Auditing Chamber.

20 best teams who passed the online selection came to fight for the prizes. The medals were split into two categories: final tournament winner and the combined winner of all the GOSleague stages.

The tournament had 7 rounds with the time control of 5 minutes and 3 seconds per move.

The final tournament finished with two teams sharing the first place with 12 points each – “The Russian Central Bank” and “The Federal Customs Service”. Additional coefficient helped the team from the Central Bank get the first place. The bronze winners were again identified with the help of additional coefficients. “The Russian Social Fund” and “Rosreestr” team both scored 10 points. However, the medals were won by “Rosreestr” team.

As for the combined tournament winners, the first and the second places were won by the same teams as in the final tournament however the teams changed places. “The Federal Customs Service” won the gold medals while “The Russian Central Bank” came second. “The Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia” finished third.

The opening ceremony included welcome speeches by the president of the Central sports club of the state service of the Russian Federation Sergey Kachushkin and the Chairman of the professional union of the Russian State Register central office and founder of the Association of members of youth councils of executive branch bodies Yusup Agzomkhodzhaev.

“I am very glad that we found resources to come here and see each other in this snowy New Year weather”, – said Kachushkin.

“History always keeps the names of those who were the first ones. And today I salute the participants of the first GOSleague over the board tournament that takes place in a wonderful club that belongs to the Moscow Chess Federation situated on the Tverskoy boulevard”, — added Agzomkhodzhaev.

The closing ceremony was marked by a speech by the executive director of the Moscow Region Chess Federation Albert Minnullin who offered the participants a video message by the MRCF director Sergey Karjakin:

“I am sure that our tournament turned out to be wonderful and interesting, everybody enjoyed the game. Let this chess festival become a certain beginning of the coming New Year celebrations. I would have loved to be present in person but, unfortunately, I wasn’t able to. But we will meet next time for sure. I would like to congratulate the participants and wish everybody good luck”.

All the winners received souvenir cups, medals and certificates for additional education programs in the Russian State Social University. The combined tournament winners were awarded with exclusive cups and medals as well as chess sets signed by Sergey Karjakin.
