The 65-th chess club of “United Russia” project will work in the social support office in the Khakass Republic and will act as a place that will provide support to develop the skills of the young regional chess players. The ceremony participants included the Russian senator, multiple world champion and the president of the Moscow Region Chess Federation Sergey Karjakin, Abakan city mayor Aleksey Lemin, the chief secretary of the Supreme Council of the Khakass Republic Anastasiya Kochergina, Intellion Data Systems general director Timofey Semenov, №11 lyceum director Irina Yakovleva, social support office leader Kristina Saratovkina as well as the director of the project “Sergey Karjakin’s chess clubs and executive director of the Moscow region Chess Federation Albert Minnullin.
“I am so glad to be here, in Abakan, I feel that people are very interested in chess. I see many children with a chess passion in their eyes. One should simply come here for a week and simply play with them, talk and it’s great! Our goal is, of course, to support such a chess passion and create conditions so that the kids could learn to play chess. I am indeed very happy that chess classes in clubs, that we open, will be absolutely free”, — commented Sergey Karjakin.
“Chess is not just a simple passion, it’s not just a game that imitates life. Chess is a powerful tool that forms up character and develops intellectual skills. One can become a real chess master only if you start learning from the mistakes that you made. The same way as we do in our life”, — said Aleksey Lemin commented at the opening ceremony.

It has already become a tradition for the world champion to offer a signed chess board. Sergey Karjakin and Aleksey Lemin also played a game of chess that ended in a friendly draw. Another draw showed up on the board against the leading player of the Khakass Republic, candidate master, Russian championship U19 bronze medal winner Stepan Kharkevich.
After the ceremony the world champion talked to young chess players and answered their questions. There were lots of those who wanted to talk to a famous grandmaster and have a photo with him. More than 300 kids came on that day!
Further on Sergey Karjakin performed a simultaneous game on 14 boards. The players were very strong and the game lasted for more than 2 hours but the world champion managed to win all the games. Leonid Popov received a book signed by Karjakin as the best player of the day.
