183 titled players from 36 countries took part in “A” tournament. The first place was shared by Alexey Grebnev (Russia) and Alan Pichot (Spain) who both scored 7 points out of 9. Grebnev received a gold medal thank to a better coefficient.
Our grandmaster Ivan Zemlyanskii came third, having scored 6.5 out of 9. His coefficient put him above Shant Sargsyan (Armenia) and Alexandar Indjic. The youngest grandmaster in the history of Russia won several important games including his point against top-seeded Nihal Sarin with a dominant performance of 2678.
