Rapid Russian championship took place on January 31 and February 1. The U11 Junior tournament was dominated by young Ilya Malchenko, who started with 7 out of 7 and finished with 7.5 out of 9.
Alexander Usov did well among U17 cadets, scoring 7.5 points out of 9, but unfavourable coefficient made him finish second.
