PSB makes its move!
With the support of PSB Bank, Sergey Karjakin’s Chess Lounge opened at the International Festival of Youth in Yekaterinburg
The festival’s partner, PSB Bank, organized the event with the assistance of the ANO “ Sergey Karjakin’s Chess Club” and the Sodruzhestvo platform. A unique chess exhibition was prepared to the guests: renowned arbiter and collector Yury Grachev from Yaroslavl presented his original “Spartacus” and “Ancient England” chess sets, while a separate photo exhibition offered visitors an opportunity to explore the history of our game in Yekaterinburg.
Every guest had the chance to play a game on luxurious handmade sets crafted from natural amber and decorated in the traditional Gzhel style. It is no wonder that, against such a backdrop of beauty, the delegates took memorable pictures and gave interviews to leading international media!
Sergey Karjakin himself also took part in the program. Sergey Alexandrovich signed a copy of his book for Khalid Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director of the Federal Youth Authority of the United Arab Emirates. The distinguished guest plans to bring the keepsake home to his daughter, who is a big fan of chess . The world champion also played a friendly game with a special guest of the venue, Ekaterina Kuzmina, Vice President and Managing Director for Development at PSB Bank.
Sergey Karjakin’s traditional simultaneous exhibition attracted considerable attention. His opponents included members of the festival directorate, international guests, youth leader, and journalists.
One of the most persistent participants in the exhibition was the honored guest from Denmark, Sbahi Abdelilah, who has attended the Youth Festival four times: in 1957, 1985, 2017, and 2024! SSbahi Abdelilah is a truly fascinating person. He is a jeweler, the author of books on the properties of precious stones and speaks Russian fluently. He attended the festival with his grandson.
Following the success of the festival, Sergey Karjakin’s Chess Lounge will become a regular format!
