Pavel Smirnov did well at V.B. Kramnik Cup

The competition in the name of the 14-th world champion took part from October 3 to October 6 in “Shepsi” recreation center in Tuapse district. The program included blitz and rapid tournament while the total prize fund was equal to 500 thousand roubles. The solemn opening ceremony was attended by Vladimir Kramnik himself and he also gave a press conference afterwards.
Nikita Afanasiev (the Krasnodar region) became the winner of the rapid tournament. The silver medal was won by his compatriot David Zakarian. Pavel Smirnov from the Moscow Region came third.
Miran Oganian became the blitz tournament winner (the Krasnodar region). Pavel Smirnov. Pavel Smirnov finished second, while Nikita Afanasiev came up third.
