This year the championship took place in the Serbian town of Loznica. 176 participants from 17 countries took part in the event. The Russian team became the champion, followed by USA and France.
Olga Druzhinina made a huge contribution to the overall victory. She took the first gold in the fit-masters category (fit is a type of chess boxing where you beat not the opponent but a bag), while the second one was in light-masters category (light is different from the classical chess boxing because there’s no knockout there), alongside with the silver medal among women.
Olga Druzhinina: “I would like to mention a special spirit of this competition. Everyone supported us and wished us all the best. We were allowed to step in with our national flag and with our national anthem. I also liked that there was no politics. Americans, French came up and congratulated. The tournament is very good, full of dignity and has a special atmosphere. I am glad to get back home with three medals!”
