The secrets of the one of the popular openings was shared by the leading manager of Sergey Karjakin’s online school FM Mikhail Korovin.
Mikhail discussed the history of the Petrov defense with the participants of the seminar, its evolution and how it was used by the grandmasters of the past and present. He also told about the details of the opening theory. After the lecture Mikhail answered to many questions of the participants. The young players were interested to learn more about the secrets of long calculations in the games. The expert shared his own methods and offered a practical chess problem with a mate in 50 moves.

The online seminar in Astana was the first event which was realized as a part of a huge project “The chess diplomacy in Russian houses”. The project started a week ago during a press conference where the leading manager of Rossotrudnichestvo Evgeny Primakov participated alongside with the Russian senator, multiple world champion and the president of the Moscow Region Chess Federation Sergey Karjakin. The goal of the project is to strengthen international ties and popularize chess as a tool of cultural exchange.
