Second Move of the «Asian League» : Expanding chess geography
On 30 November, the second stage of the international online tournament series «Asian League», launched within the large-scale «Chess Diplomacy» project, took place

The «Chess Diplomacy» project continues to develop confidently, uniting countries over the chessboard. After the successful first round, the second stage of the «Asian League» demonstrated not only a higher level of participants’ skill, but also a significant expansion of the project’s geography.
The undisputed leader of this round was the team of Thailand, which outpaced its competitors by almost 200 points. Such an impressive margin became clear proof of their outstanding level of preparation and their serious attitude toward the tournament. The silver was taken by the Friends of the MRCF team, which, as the host of the competition, plays out of contest, yet consistently demonstrates brilliant play.
This stage of the «Asian League» was also a successful debut for two new teams at once – from Mongolia and Malaysia, which took second and third places respectively in the overall standings. The other participating teams also performed with dignity, confirming the growing interest in chess diplomacy and international cooperation. It is worth noting that in the second stage the average rating level of the participants rose significantly compared to the first.
In the individual standings, more than 150 chess lovers, who played 1,085 games, competed for the title of best player. Two prize-winning places went to members of the Thailand team: the winner of the tournament was Allan Pason, already well known from the previous round, while second place, just one point behind, was taken by Diego Carpino. The bronze medal in the individual competition, as in the team event, went to Malaysia: Genivan Genkeswaran, who took part in the Asian Championship in Thailand and had not yet left Bangkok, received his award from the MRCF for third place in the «Asian League» just one hour after the tournament ended.
