Our train is heading for “Artek”!

Young chess players from all over Russia are heading to the Crimea to participate in a very unique Sergey Karjakin’s chess shift

The participants of the special sports and educational program “Sergey Karjakin’s chess camp” that will start in “Artek” departed on a train from Moscow to Simferopol. A centralized transfer was organized by the Moscow Region Chess Federation with the help of “United Russia” political party.

The shift is a part of a large-scale project “Sergey Karjakin’s chess clubs” aiming to develop the children’s intellectual potential, popularize chess and create new possibilities for young sportsmen from all over the country.

The selection for the shift included several steps. In May, 19-25 more than 2500 children from 70 Russian regions took part in “Chess shift-2025” project, organized in Sergey Karjakin’s chess clubs situated in “United Russia” offices. The winners and prize winners in each region were identified, passing to a new selection stage. As a result 25 best young chess players were selected and received a right to go to the International children’s center “Artek” to participate in this educational program.

The participants will reach their final destination on August 9 and will start their classes and leisure program. The leader of the chess shift in “Artek” is Sergey Karjakin’s online school chief coach Mikhail Korovin. Within three weeks the kids will participate in chess tournaments, master classes, games analysis. They will also be able to listen to the classes performed by leading specialists.

The key event of the whole program will include multiple world champion and the Russian senator Sergey Karjakin visit to “Artek”. This is supposed to happen in the middle of August. A meeting with such a well-known player will become a motivating factor for the kids and a bright event that they will be able to remember for years to come.
