On the morning of November 8th, the final round of the ASEAN+ Championship for men and women was played.

In the women’s tournament, Evgenija Ovod Ovod, who had been leading throughout the competition, drew with Anna Zhurova and, with seven points, became the sole winner of the tournament. Anna Zhurova, scoring half a point less, won the bronze medal. Ekaterina Smirnova, who defeated Filipino WGM Frayna Janelle Mae, scored six points and secured fifth place.

In the men’s tournament, Miroslav Vlasenko drew not with just anyone, but with a FIDE Master named Nouri! Scoring 4.5 points out of 9, Miroslav finished in 23rd place in the standings.

Immediately after the final round concluded, the tournament participants went on a large-scale excursion. First, they visited an eco-park with authentic houses.

Then, they went to Food Park, where they tried Filipino street food: fish balls, squid rolls, and one of the main national dishes – a whole roasted pig.

The next stop was the picturesque Asenso Global Gardens, where the tournament participants were greeted with a dance.

After entering Asenso Global Gardens, participants were met with many stairs, and at the very top – a huge chessboard and a charming heart-shaped art object.

The excursion concluded with a dinner at a restaurant, where the tournament participants had a unique opportunity to interact with the legendary Filipino Grandmaster Eugenio Torre and his wonderful wife Maria Lina Eugenia.

The grand closing ceremony, as well as rapid and blitz tournaments, will take place tomorrow.

Photo Bonus: During these days in Western Misamis, a unique natural phenomenon could be observed: a moonbow.
