Ekaterina Smirnova took the second women’s prize in Tournament “B” in Dushanbe
Isaak Parpiev showed a brilliant result in tournament “A”

From November 10th to 16th, Dushanbe, known for its hospitality, hosted the largest international tournament in the country’s history: President’s Cup of the Republic of Tajikistan .
230 participants from 16 countries were divided into two categories: “A” (rating above 2200) and “B” (up to 2200).
The rating favorite of tournament “B,” Ekaterina Smirnova, did not manage to arrive from the Philippines on time, so she missed the first game. Scoring 6.5 points in the remaining eight rounds, Ekaterina tied for fifth place overall and became the second-highest-ranked woman.

In tournament “A,” Isaak Parpiev performed excellently. Scoring 6 points out of 9, he took 12th place, securing main prizes, gained 39 international rating points and achieved a performance rating of 2556. Isaak almost reached the norm of Grandmaster and comfortably fulfilled the International Master norm, which was his fourth. He already has the three necessary norms for the title and after the tournament is calculated, he will also have a rating of 2400.
Boris Plotnikov scored 5 points and earned a a solid increase in the rating of 99 points.
Other promising juniors from the Moscow region also performed commendably: Alexander Fedosov scored 4.5 points and Svyatoslav Lisenkov – 4.

The winner of the main tournament was the first rating number Anand Pranav, who scored 7 points. Eight chess players scored 6.5 points, sharing places from 2nd to 9th. Tie-breaking coefficients placed two Russians on the podium: Sergey Drygalov took second place and Nikita Afanasiev took third.
It should also be noted that the bronze medalist of tournament “B” was Oksana Goriachkina – a student of the Regional Gymnasium named after E.M. Primakov, representing the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug.
