Ekaterina Smirnova took second place in the women’s standings at Yerevan Open
Major international competitions took place in Armenia’s capital from December 5 to 11

Tournament «A» (rating 2100+) gathered 102 participants, almost two-thirds of whom were holders of international titles.
The International Master from Balashikha Ekaterina Smirnova scored 4.5 points, sharing the first place in the women’s nomination, but yielding to her competitor on the additional coefficientё. For the second place she got not only a certificate and cash prize, but also flowers and a great cup.
Two juniors from Moscow region also performed well: Boris Plotnikov and Dmitry Petukhov. Dima, by the way, won in the first round of grandmaster Nikita Matinian and earned a substantial rating increase of 73 points!
The winner of the tournament became the international master from Armenia Eric Hakobyan.
