The competitions will take place in the capital of the Kingdom of Thailand from November 20th to 30th. By invitation of the Thai side and with the assistance of the Russian Embassy in Bangkok, eleven young chess players from the Moscow region with their companions have departed for the championship. Defending the honor of the Moscow Region will be: last year’s Asian junior champion Alexander Fedosov, who will compete in the older age group up to 18 years old; Sofia Gaer, a bronze medalist at the Word junior championship; and the titled players Ruslan Minkhaidarov, Kirill Minnullin, Uliana Bubnova, Alexandra Morozova, Tatiana Klyueva, Sofia Bulik, Iliana Masaeva, Savely Yarkin and Ivan Yarkin.

The delegation also includes the renowned arbiter and honorary president of the Moscow Region Chess Federation, Mikhail Krjukov, who has been invited as the deputy chief arbiter of the Championship.

The delegation is headed by Albert Minnullin, Executive Director of the Moscow Region Chess Federation and head of the “Chess Diplomacy” project.

The cooperation between the Moscow Region Chess Federation and the Thailand Chess Association began in February 2024, when a delegation of Thai chess players, led by Association President Sahapol Nakvanich, participated in Open Superfinal of the Moscow Region Championship.

On June 20th of this year, Sergey Karjakin conducted an online simultaneous exhibition for the strongest Thai juniors.

In September, chess players from the distant kingdom led by Sahapol Nakvanich, visited Moscow for the second time to sign a Memorandum of cooperation with the Moscow Region Chess Federation and then participate in the first Buddhist Chess Tournament “Spirit of Dharma” in Elista.

The invitation of our athletes to the Asian Championship is another important step in strengthening friendly ties between the chess federations of Thailand and the Moscow Region. We thank our Thai partners for this opportunity and wish our young players victory!
