Chess composers from the Moscow region achieve new success

Final results of the 9-th world chess composition championship (WCCI) 2022-2024 announced during the 67-th Congress of the World Federation of chess composition that took place in Romanian town of Alba Iulia July 5-12

Russian chess composers showed outstanding results once again, having won 3 gold, 6 silver and 1 bronze medals. The Moscow Region composers played a significant role in the victory of the Russian team and won 1 gold and 4 silver medals. Pavel Murashev from Khimki won a silver medal in two-move problems. Only half a point behind him was Anatoly Slesarenko (Dubna). He finished 4-th but managed to show the best two-move problem.

Alexander Kuzovkov from Reutov scored 39 points and a silver medal in three-move problems. He also won the world champion title and manage to finish ahead his compatriot Valery Shavyrin from the Sverdlovsk Region with one extra point.

The Russian team fully dominated the back mate problems where all the three places were given to the Russian composers.

The gold medal was given to multiple world champion Andrey Selivanov (Moscow) who managed to score an outstanding result of 43.5 points. However, the silver medal was shared between Aleksander Kuzovkov (Khimki) and Alexander Feoktistov (Domodedovo).

The Moscow Region Chess Federation congratulates the regional composers with a successful performance at the world championship and wishes them more success yet to come!
