Asian League summed up

On December 28, the third and final stage of the “Asian League” series of international online tournaments took place, launched as part of the large-scale “Chess Diplomacy” project

Late December is a busy period, but that didn’t stop teams from eight Asian countries, as well as the Team of friends and partners of the MRCF, from competing for the title of the best in the final round of the competition.

The Philippine Chess Academy topped the team standings, marking its second convincing victory in the series. It’s worth noting that the cup for the first round was presented to Jason Gonzales, Vice President of the National Chess Federation of the Philippines, during the closing ceremony of the 6th ASEAN+ Championship , where Russian athletes also participated. Silver went to the Friends of the MRCF team, which competes as the host team outside the official standings but traditionally demonstrates a high level of play, setting an example for other teams. The teams from Mongolia and Malaysia repeated their results from the previous round, sharing second and third places, but this time the Malaysians finished ahead of their competitors.

In the individual standings, more than 150 chess players fought for the prize spots. The tournament winner was 14-year-old Alexander Fedosov from the Friends of the MRCF team.” Recall that at the end of November, the junior won silver at the Asian Rapid Championship in Thailand, competing in the oldest age category under 18. First place in the standings went to Ishdagvyn Otgonbat from Mongolia. Two prize spots went to members of the Philippine team: Joemel Narzabal and John Peter Cabales.
