«The Chess Crown» Returns to Russia
From February 17 to 28, «Greenwood Hotel 4* in the Moscow region will host an International Chess Festival with a total prize fund of 7.5 million rubles (100000 $)

In February 2024, our region successfully hosted a major International Festival — the Open Superfinal of the Moscow Region Championship. The event featured over two hundred chess players from eleven countries, nearly half of whom held international titles. Grandmaster Timur Gareyev emerged as the winner of the main tournament.

This year, with the support of the «Intellect» Group of Companies and the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation, the Moscow Region Chess Federation is organizing an even larger International Festival titled «The Russian Chess Crown». As in the previous edition, there will be four competitions:
• Tournament A: Classical chess for participants rated 2050+, with opportunities to achieve international title norms.
• Tournament B: Rapid chess.
• Tournament C: Blitz.
• Tournament D: Classical chess for all comers
The prize fund will reach a record 7,500,000 rubles, with the winner of the main tournament receiving one million rubles.

The Festival will feature Russian chess stars, including multiple-time World Champion, Senator of the RF and President of the Moscow Region Chess Federation Sergey Karjakin; winner of the Russian Championship Superfinal Arseniy Nesterov; and the youngest Grandmaster in Russian history Ivan Zemlyanskii. Strong international players and foreign delegations led by the heads of national chess federations are also expected to attend.

Regulations:
• Tournaments A and D (Classical): 10 rounds, time control 90 minutes per game with a 30-second increment per move.
• Tournament B (Rapid): 9 rounds, time control 10 minutes + 5-second increment.
• Tournament C (Blitz): 11 rounds, time control 3 minutes + 2-second increment.

• February 18: Tournament C (Blitz)
• February 19–26: Tournaments A and D (Classical)
• February 27: Tournament B (Rapid)
• February 28: Departure day
