Kazan hosted the II International Tournament for BRICS representatives residing in Tatarstan

In Sergey Karjakin Chess Club at the United Russia party venue, chess players from six countries gathered: Russia, India, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. A video message to the participants was delivered by a multiple world champion, Senator of the Russian Federation and President of the Moscow Region Chess Federation himself . Nizhny Novgorod and Voronezh regions, as well as the Mari El Republic joined the event via live broadcast, where parallel chess competitions were held.

The winner was Russian Dmitry Ospennikov, who achieved a perfect score of 6 out of 6 points. Second place went to Soltan Muradov (Turkmenistan), and third place was secured by Samat Galyaviev (Russia). The tournament was officiated by International Master Ildar Nizamov. The organizers were Kamil Sadriev, head of the regional public reception office of United Russia, and Rustam Garifullin, Vice-President of the Tatarstan Chess Federation.

The award ceremony was conducted by Lyalya Garifullina, a deputy of the Kazan City Duma, who presented cups, medals, participant diplomas and commemorative prizes to the winners and prize-winners.

During the tournament, an exhibition titled “Chess in History: A Connection Through Time” was on display, featuring archival photographs and materials about legendary chess players of the Volga region.
