Alexander Fedosov became a Silver Medalist of the Asian Youth Rapid Chess Championship in Thailand

The 14-year-old FIDE Master from the Moscow region competed in the oldest under-18 age category

The competition was held on November 21 in Bangkok. Alexander Fedosov, fighting against much older opponents, scored 5.5 points and shared the first place. An additional indicator put our chess player on the second step of the podium.

In the Girls’ Under 14 tournament, Uliana Bubnova was close to a medal, ultimately finishing in seventh place.

The head of the MRCF delegation, Albert Minnullin, had the honor of presenting awards to the boys and girls in the Under 18 category.

In total, Russian participants won four medals – one gold, two silver and one bronze.

Before the start of the competitions, a grand opening ceremony  with dancing was held. To make the symbolic first move on an imaginary board, honored guests of the Chess Association of the Kingdom of Thailand were called upon. Among them were Albert Minnullin, head of the Moscow Region Chess Federation delegation, Executive Director of the MRCF and head of the “Chess Diplomacy” project, and Veniamin Yarkin, who is actively involved in the Federation’s work.
