Who is ready to play? Karjakin’s team is!
On August 17 Sergey Karjakin met the participants of the chess shift in the legendary “Artek”

“Artek” international children’s center welcomed the key event of the special program “Sergey Karjakin’s chess shift”. Multiple world champion and the Russian senator representing the Crimea as well as the Moscow Region Chess Federation president visited the camp where he met the best chess players of the country.

The chess shift is carried out as a part of a large-scale project “Sergey Karjakin’s chess clubs” realized by the Moscow Region Chess Federation and supported by “United Russia” political party. 2500 children representing 70 Russian regions passed the selection and 25 winners and prize winners received their tickets to “Artek”.
The program included an open dialog with young players, answers to their questions, photo and autograph sessions. The climax of the event included a simultaneous game that Sergey Karjakin performed against the strongest participants of the camp, including those that represented the Chess shift group Mikhail Nefedov (Kaliningrad), Maxim Boldyrev (Ekaterinburg and Semen Shestakov (Kursk).

Sergey Karjakin paid a special attention to the importance of such programs for the future of the Russian chess: “Today this meeting in “Artek” is very special for me. I see the eyes of these kids, their passion and their will to learn. It is important for every young chess player to understand that chess is not just about sport but it is a real school of life, an ability to forecast, take decisions and believe in yourself. I am sure that there’s a bright future ahead of these children. And it is a great honour to share the beginning of this journey with them”.
The chess shift will work till the end of August. The participants will take part in tournaments, master classes and lectures under the guidance of the best coaches representing Sergey Karjakin’s online school.
